Tio KURUN WARUN “hissing swan”
Encouraged by his mother, a student of Clifton Pugh; Kurun Warun (Hissing Swan) first exhibited his work at the age of eight. He sees his work as a development of contemporary Aboriginal abstract. All of his work has a traditional meaning within, not always observed by the eye at first glance, but bound with colour, line and space to lead the viewer through the underlying story. Kurun Warun's line of heritage can be traced back to Truganini, the last living Tamanian Queen. Kurun Warun was also troupe leader for many years of Aboriginal dance troupe, Toolumby Waddama that toured the world presenting their unique style of dance. His works are becoming recognised around the world to be of collectable value. Kurun Warun (Tio), a member of the Gunditjmara tribe now resides in Pomona , Queensland . With his unique style of art, dance and didgeridoo playing, he has performed for the US President's daughter Chelsea Clinton, and Grand Prix champion Michael Schumaker and actor Pierce Brosnan are proud owners of Tio's artworks.
