I love sculpting – I love the feel as the image in my mind evolves and takes shape under my hands. I focus on the human form because I love the amazing variety in shape, movement and expression that is suggested by the reality. The blend of movement and abstract creates an amazing challenge in keeping the pieces balanced yet pleasing to the eye and touch. I first studied sculpting at the Queensland College of Art but went on to a career in illustration and graphic design and did not return to sculpting until about four years ago when I was able to devote more time to this passion. My interest in sculpting has deepened and developed over these last few years through my exposure to other sculptors, their art and stories and their very generous sharing of skills, knowledge and encouragement. I am a member of the Sculptors' Society and have studied with Derek Rintol and Georgette Schwantes and attended workshops conducted by Erica Mayer, Bob McKerrell, and Yanna Pameijer. During this period I have experimented with and sculpted in a variety of materials such as clay, glass, bronze, hebel and crystal.
